Inova Alexandria Hospital is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) Fellow to join the Labor and Delivery Unit. This role will be full-time night shift 3x12 hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible.

Registered Nurse (RN) Fellow Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient-centered care under the supervision of an experienced RN, following established plans, standards, and guidelines.

  • Performs patient assessments, collects data, and identifies care needs based on patient preferences and clinical findings.

  • Organizes and prioritizes care using Inova's Nursing Professional Practice and Care Delivery Models to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Monitors patient progress and adjusts care plans as needed.

  • Delivers compassionate, hands-on care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

  • Documents patient care accurately and seeks guidance to improve documentation skills.

  • Participates actively in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborates with the healthcare team.

  • Applies new knowledge and skills from the RN Fellowship program, integrating feedback and mentoring into practice.

  • Attends all assigned educational sessions and demonstrates ability to recall, apply, and transfer learned skills to clinical care.

  • May serve as a preceptor after completing orientation and competency requirements, supporting the development of peers.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

  • Required Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • Required Experience: A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
  • Required Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start | For Critical Care Units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 Months | For Pediatric Units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support- Within 6 Months | For Infusion Center Units: Obtain chemo card- within 3 months of hire
  • Licensure Requirement: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse

Preferred Qualifications:

  • (BSN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Recent inpatient RN experience
