Description

The Communications Specialist supports Lifespark's internal and external communications by creating and coordinating clear, compelling content that strengthens brand visibility, protects and elevates reputation, and drives engagement with key audiences. Part of a growing Communications team within the Lifespark Growth department, this role partners closely with teams across the organization to develop and deliver communications that advance business priorities, support operational initiatives, and reinforce Lifespark's voice and core values.

As a key contributor to the Communications team, the Communications Specialist plans and produces content across channels-social, web, email, internal communications, print, and earned media support-ensuring accuracy, quality, and brand consistency. With strong writing, interviewing, editing, and project coordination skills, this position helps manage the editorial calendar, develops campaign and thought-leadership assets, drafts media materials and pitches, and measures basic performance to continuously improve results.

Position: Communications Specialist

Salary: $65,000 - $68,000 annually, depending on experience

Service Area: Remote

Schedule: 1.0 FTE, Full - Time / Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

Position Functions & Responsibilities:



  • Develops effective messaging and communications strategies for internal and external audiences.
  • Supports change management and organizational operations through communication strategies.
  • Ensures quality control on all communications to ensure appropriate branding and messaging.
  • Collaborates on all communication channels including but not limited to: social media, web site, digital, and newsletter/blogs for internal and external audiences.
  • Oversees master editorial calendar for entire enterprise in collaboration with Senior Director of Communications & PR, coordinating and integrating efforts for maximum effectiveness across business units and service lines.
  • Provides research and drafts media pitches in support of all media/public relations and thought-leadership efforts.
  • Research and help profile all key audiences and stakeholders groups for communication and business objectives.
  • Directs the production and planning of various branded communication channels including but not limited to: digital/print newsletters, social media, and podcasts.
  • Plans and implements communication initiatives - directing schedules, coordinating resources, etc.
  • Drafts key content marketing pieces aligned with content marketing strategies to ensure we have the right content ready for publication throughout each quarter to achieve goals.
  • Oversees voice of the customer (i.e., surveys of different audiences) and award programs.
  • Assists with department performance metrics and scorecard production, especially for media and communication initiatives.
  • Works well with all departments as well as external partners, customers, etc.
  • Supports the communication needs of all Lifespark divisions in alignment with Lifespark brand identity and overall marketing strategy.

Qualifications:



  1. Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  2. Minimum 1-4 years of communications, public relations, and/or content marketing experience, with demonstrated ability to deliver results-oriented communications across digital and print channels.
  3. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; ability to tailor tone and messaging to different audiences and channels.
  4. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple stakeholders to deliver high-quality communications.
  5. Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and incorporate feedback while maintaining quality, brand voice, and consistency.
  6. Experience supporting social media, website, and email communications, including basic performance tracking/analytics and reporting.
  7. Experience in health care, senior living, home care, or other service-based industries is preferred.
  8. Highly organized and detail oriented; able to create and manage actionable timelines and maintain an editorial calendar.
  9. Able to work independently with minimal direction, take initiative, and collaborate effectively across the organization.
  10. Proficiency with standard workplace tools and communications platforms, including Microsoft Office/365; experience with design and publishing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva), CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), email marketing/marketing automation (e.g., HubSpot), survey tools, and media databases (e.g., Cision) is a plus.
