You'll dive into the heart of operations at Gigafactory Texas in Austin, TX, supporting cell production, vehicle body manufacturing, and data center water reuse - pushing the boundaries of efficiency in a 24/7, world-class manufacturing environment. As a key player on our elite facilities engineering team, you'll solve complex puzzles, drive groundbreaking improvements, and confront evolving demands that test your expertise and ingenuity every day.
What You'll Do
- Champion maximum process uptime and slash equipment downtime for your assigned units by swiftly tackling facilities operational issues, leading failure analyses, troubleshooting complex problems, and conducting in-depth system analysis (including SPC)-all in the high-pressure arena of a 24/7 production environment
- Pioneer the creation, refinement, and optimization of standard operating procedures, control narratives, alarm rationalization, and sequences of operations to supercharge water treatment systems
- Drive CAPEX projects through rigorous calculations and innovative pilot studies; submit bold project requests to the process design team and lead facilities' internal initiatives to boost efficiency, operability, and breakthrough results
- Forge powerful collaborations with cross-functional teams (Operations, Reliability, Maintenance, Production, and all site customers) to guarantee that processes, equipment, and assets exceed customer specifications in a demanding, ever-evolving landscape
- Integrate and standardize best practices across all water and wastewater treatment systems, safeguarding our mission-critical operations
- Vigilantly monitor system demands and capacity bottlenecks, forecast utility and chemical usage with precision analysis, and shape strategic short-term and long-term infrastructure planning to fuel Tesla's sustainable energy revolution
- Spearhead the startup of cutting-edge water treatment systems and orchestrate seamless operations handovers from construction teams, ensuring peak performance from day one
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in water treatment operations engineering, including industrial wastewater systems, RO/DI operation, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and advanced water chemistry proven in high-stakes industrial settings
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
- Mastery of hydraulic analysis software like Pipe-Flo and Aspen, along with the ability to read and interpret pump curves, to model, optimize, and solve intricate system puzzles
- Strong grasp of process control fundamentals and practical experience with SCADA systems, enabling you to thrive in dynamic, automated environments
