Responsibilities:
* Prepare and evaluate metallurgical test specimens in support of materials quality and engineering activities.
* Perform metallographic preparation and analysis, including sectioning, mounting, polishing, and microscopy evaluations.
* Support the development of new materials and processes through handson laboratory testing and material characterization.
* Interface with production, quality, and engineering teams to communicate metallurgical findings and results.
* Participate in root cause and corrective action investigations related to materials and process issues.
* Support the scheduling and execution of laboratory workloads and testing priorities.
* Assist in continuous improvement activities to enhance laboratory performance, safety, and efficiency.
* Provide training and technical support to other laboratory personnel or support staff as needed.
Education and Experience:
* Associate degree or technical training in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
* Prior experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or quality laboratories is a plus
* Experience working in a materials science, metallurgy, or materials laboratory environment.
* Handson experience with microscopy and metallographic techniques.
* Experience with sample preparation, laboratory testing, and documentation.
* Experience supporting engineering investigations or production environments is preferred
Skills and Knowledge:
* Must be a US Citizen due to government programs requirements
* Ability to work effectively in a handson lab setting and follow established procedures and quality standards.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a regulated or quality driven environment.
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross functional teams.
* Team player
* Able to perform in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
* Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and quality systems (e.g., AS9100 or similar) is a plus
