Within CSG, the Third Party Wealth (TPW) business markets GSAM's investment products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries and advisors. The focus is on building and maintaining long-term client relationships and communicating key themes from the firm's leading investment professionals. CSG provides investment solutions across all major asset classes (e.g., fixed income, equities and alternatives) and products including mutual funds, ETFs, separate accounts and alternative investments.

Background

Model portfolios and Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) are two of the largest growth opportunities within the US retail marketplace. Goldman Sachs, one of the world's largest asset managers with an industry-leading SMA and multi-asset franchise, is uniquely positioned to capture the opportunity of jointly addressing models and SMAs.

Goldman Sachs is hiring within its Third Party Wealth (TPW) business for its Wealth Solutions team, a group whose capabilities consist of:



  1. A range of custom portfolio solutions to help CIOs and Advisors with their core portfolio design incorporating Funds, ETFs, SMAs, Alts
  2. A suite of SMA offerings including direct indexing, active equity and fixed income SMAs
  3. An open architecture approach to TAMPs and UMA technology platforms including premier partnerships integral to the implementation of custom portfolio solutions
  4. An array of analytical toolsets and capabilities enabling portfolio analysis and design


Role Overview

The Portfolio Specialist will represent Goldman's suite of portfolio customization capabilities to large RIAs, and partner with top RIA C-Suite executives to build custom models in collaboration with our multi-asset Lead Portfolio Managers on a white labeled, open architecture platform. The Goldman platform supports a differentiated suite of model portfolios, and resulting models will marry client-specific customization with Goldman IP or their own, supported by white labeled marketing surround experience, and provide ongoing service.

The Portfolio Specialist will leverage an array of analytical toolsets in the analysis and portfolio design process and will be knowledgeable of the latest TAMPs and UMA technology partnerships and developments in order to implement customized solutions.

The Portfolio Specialist is expected to become an essential partner to the RIA, operating as a subject matter expert across models, SMAs, portfolio construction, and technology solutions.

Success in this role requires partnership with GSAM TPW sales teams, wealth solutions specialists, and internal investment teams while establishing strong trusting relationships with RIA CIOs, advisors, and their investment committees. Further keys to success require an ability to apply a solutions-based value proposition that harnesses the breadth of Goldman Sachs capabilities and an approach to the role like a business owner -- build strong relationships with sales partners and centers of influence (COIs), be accountable for territory coverage, maintain a full calendar of events and meetings, and approach pipeline management in a disciplined manner.

The Portfolio Specialist will have expert knowledge of Goldman's entire platform -- Mutual Funds, ETFs, SMAs, Alternatives, model portfolios and customization capabilities, portfolio analytics toolsets, UMA technology partners, transition management, Custody platforms, etc. This position requires a deep understanding of financial markets, investment products, portfolio construction, technology, and exceptional client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities



  • You are a member of the Portfolio Solutions team and are expected to serve as an essential partner to an RIA or advisor by working with multi-asset Model Lead Portfolio Managers to customize GS models or consult on the advisor's existing models.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert across multi-asset model portfolios, SMAs, portfolio construction and associated toolsets, and UMA technology partner capabilities.
  • Stay informed of the latest developments across technology partner platforms and strategically position relevant partner platforms when implementing model portfolios and investment solutions with RIAs.
  • Present Goldman Sachs thought leadership and best practices in settings ranging from individual teams to large meetings/events.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of Goldman Sachs' investment products, solutions, and platforms - Mutual Funds, ETFs, SMAs, Alternatives, model portfolios, UMA technology partners, Custody platforms, etc.
  • Be an expert on market trends, competitive landscape, and wealth sponsor platforms to provide informed advice to advisors.
  • You will work as an extension of the GSAM wholesaler and have an assigned territory with a target list of RIAs to engage.
  • Disciplined pipeline management to close leads, deepen relationships and cross-sell solutions.


Skills/Experience



  • 10 - 15 years of relevant investment management experience
  • Bachelor's degree required (MBA, CFA, CIMA, CFP, a plus)
  • Series 7 and 63 required
  • Good understanding of asset management, wealth advisory markets, and SMA/models
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight time constraints
  • Experience with RIAs, Family Offices, PWAs
  • Business builder with an entrepreneurship-like spirit
  • Flexible, responsive, and self-starting personality
  • Team player with demonstrated capacity to work seamlessly with a wide variety of personalities across the organization.
  • Intellectual agility and pragmatic personality, with the talent to adapt to an evolving environment.


Salary Range

The expected base salary for this Chicago, Illinois, United States-based position is $100000-$230000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
