SUMMARY:
The Research Data Manager reports to the Research Data Operations Manager and Director of the Brown University Health Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Research Design, and Informatics (BERDI) Core. Collaborates with researchers on scientific endeavors, and with other Brown University Health entities to enhance research data management and computational infrastructure. Supports the Brown University Health research and teaching missions, as well as collaborates with other entities across the Brown University Health system and its collaborators. Works as part of an integrated team to interface with and support Brown University Health scientists and other departments which support these missions.br class=Apple-interchange-newline

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research Support: Provides collaborative and dynamic support to basic science &clinical researchers with a substantial focus on REDCap project design and management. Works with other Brown University Health support entities (e.g. IS) to facilitate access to data and computational resources. Organizes meetings with researchers and analysts to learn enough about scientific problems and analytic approaches to confidently assist the researchers to navigate data management for proposed projects.Serves as data management project lead for assigned research projects to develop operational databases for data collection and study participant tracking, using a variety of software programs.Contributes to the design, testing and debugging of databases. Through user and project team feedback and program development, provides enhancements to ensure optimal operation of database, quality of data and user productivity. May write programs using computer and software compatible language to reformat information, create new files, etc.In collaboration with statistician and/or PI, contributes to calculation of non-standardized measures. Provides a variety of reports summarizing research data as well as ongoing status reports. Provides access to finalized reports containing all variables and scoring.REDCap Support and Training: Maintains expertise in REDCap to support and maintain the deployment of the package across diverse contexts and as features are added. Provides group and individual trainings in REDCap to faculty, trainees, and staff. Assists efforts to implement new REDCap features including those that will integrate with other Brown University Health support entities such as Information Services. General REDCap administration including granting access to new users. Assist in guiding data governance policies and procedures as related to REDCap.Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Advanced knowledge of REDCap with experience in creating and maintaining emailed surveys, cross-sectional studies, longitudinal studies, randomization, branching logic, calculated fields, and user permissions management.Basic principles of research design.Bachelor-level degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Methodology, Computer Science, or related field or comparable experience required.EXPERIENCE:Three years related experience in high level manipulation of complex and varied REDCap or similar databases, preferably in academic, medical, or pharmaceutical research environment.Emphasis on human-subjects with experience assisting to prepare and comply with HIPAA guidelines. Pediatric subjects or other vulnerable populations a plus.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Duties performed in acute care hospital, laboratory and normal office environments, some walking and standing. Any risk of exposure to hazards is minimized by adherence to established Brown University Health safety policies, procedures and use of protective equipment and clothing.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Performs independently with Brown University Health's and departments' policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor when clarification of departmental policies and procedures are required. May recommend modification to policies and/or practices.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.

Pay Range:

$35.90-$59.23
