Summary/ Objective:

The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and operations of the distribution center. This role oversees all warehouse activities to ensure key performance indicators are met or exceeded for productivity, accuracy, and cost effectiveness. Additionally, this role will ensure inventory is accurate, organized, and stored in a safe manner, the building and is neat, safe and within SYD and government standards.

Essential Functions:



  • Manage all warehouse operations, including order processing, receiving, services, delivery of products, safety/security, emergency plans, and closing procedures.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure performance, optimize operations, track productivity, and anticipate/solve problems.
  • Resolve operational issues through root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Balance workloads to achieve productivity and delivery goals for each shift.
  • Adhere to and enforce standard operating procedures to ensure safety and operational excellence.
  • Manage warehouse operating budget and ensure spending aligns with annual targets.
  • Validate and maintain accuracy and relevance of operating procedures.
  • Implement new operational initiatives successfully.
  • Maintain proficiency in warehouse related technologies (ERP, WMS, HRIS, BI, logistics systems).
  • Achieve productivity standards aligned with the annual operating plan (DEP).
  • Foster a high performance, accountable, and team oriented culture.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy at all times and minimize shrinkage.
  • Oversee inbound/outbound operations to ensure timely, accurate, and damage free product movement.
  • Identify and maintain equipment/tools for safe and efficient operations.
  • Participate in all warehousing functions as needed.
  • Interpret and enforce policies and procedures related to safety and operations.
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to review performance, goals, and challenges.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of team members.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for team growth.
  • Build leadership bench strength through coaching, mentorship, and succession planning.
  • Manage multi-shift operations in a 24/5 warehouse environment.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibility:



  • This position is a supervisory role and the following roles report directly to the Distribution Center Manager:

    • Assistant Warehouse Manager
    • Continuous Improvement Supervisor
    • CDC Logistics Supervisor




Work Environment:

This job operates in a fast paced warehouse environment with multi-shift (24/5) operations, with time spent overseeing daily distribution activities, interacting with warehouse staff and leadership, and monitoring logistics operations. This position requires exposure to warehouse equipment and systems, as well as the use of standard technology such as computers, warehouse management systems, and other logistics related applications.

Travel:

Minimal travel; may include occasional visits to other locations or meetings as needed

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse distribution and logistics management systems preferred
  • Experience managing multi-shift warehouse operations preferred
