Role Summary

The Quality Control Inspector performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections to verify that materials, components, and finished products conform to drawings, specifications, quality procedures, and applicable customer requirements. This position uses calibrated inspection equipment, documents inspection results, identifies and reports nonconformances, and supports corrective action and continuous improvement activities. The Quality Control Inspector has authority, within established procedures, to accept conforming product and place nonconforming or questionable product on quality hold.

Duties & Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform routine and specialized testing using various measurement tools and equipment to validate product conformance.
  • Verify part identification, material traceability, configuration, and inspection status.
  • Accurately record inspection and test results, maintain required quality records, and enter or scan documentation into applicable company systems.
  • Follow established inspection procedures and quality requirements throughout each applicable stage of production.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances and inspection requirements.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM equipment, inspection fixtures, and other calibrated instruments.
  • Identify, document, segregate and place nonconforming material on quality hold.
  • Perform assigned inspections in accordance with applicable customer, regulatory, industry, and company quality requirements.
  • Assist in identifying manufacturing issues by working with management to determine root cause and help implement corrective action and process improvement activities.
  • Communicate inspection findings that may indicate a need for process adjustments, tooling corrections, repairs, or additional evaluation.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve inspection methods, accuracy, documentation, and efficiency.
  • Support first article inspections, special engineering tests or procedures, if applicable.
  • Perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on inspection equipment as required.
  • Support Decavo's AS9100 quality management system and participate in applicable audit, documentation, and continuous improvement activities.


Minimum Required Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic shop mathematics, including calculations involving fractions, decimals and measurements.
  • Basic proficiency using measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, inspection fixtures, and other standard measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of basic visual and dimensional inspection methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to recognize, document, and communicate product defects and nonconformances.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and product specifications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions within established procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with Production, Engineering, and Quality personnel.
  • Ability to maintain confidential or controlled company, customer, and technical information.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including data entry, electronic recordkeeping, and the use of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, ERP or quality-management systems.



Preferred Qualifications



  • One or more years of quality inspection or manufacturing experience.
  • Experience inspecting composite materials, carbon fiber components, machined parts, or aerospace products.
  • Experience using coordinate measuring machines, optical inspection equipment, height gauges, or other advanced inspection equipment.
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system requirements.
  • Experience completing first article inspections or AS9102 documentation.
  • Experience documenting nonconformances and supporting root-cause analysis, corrective action, or continuous improvement activities.
  • Familiarity with calibration requirements and the proper handling and storage of inspection equipment.
  • Quality inspection, metrology, or quality assurance education or certification.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements



  • Work in inspection areas and throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Exposure to manufacturing noise, composite dust, chemicals, and moving equipment, as applicable.
  • Required use of safety glasses and other assigned PPE.
  • Frequently stands and walks throughout inspection and manufacturing areas; occasionally sits, bends, stoops, crouches and reaches.
  • Frequently uses hands and fingers to handle parts and operate computers, measuring instruments, and inspection equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or material-handling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform detailed visual inspections and close work to identify specified surface conditions, defects, and dimensional features.
