ICU - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Part Time - Multi Shift

This position will need to work one dayshift and one nightshift per week routinely. Shifts vary based on staff availability.

The ICU/CCU is an 8-bed area designed for critically or seriously ill patients who are unable to communicate their needs or for which deliberate planned observation and highly skilled medical, nursing, and clinical support services are required. This area is modified and set aside from adjacent facilities and contains necessary diagnostic, monitoring and special equipment and supplies needed for immediate use.

Job Description:

Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the Certified Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct and indirect patient care. The PCT provides excellence in patient care while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. Empathy, compassion, communication, and teamwork are the hallmarks of the PCT-nurse-patient relationship.

  • Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice and including but not limited to:
    • Assists patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
    • Assists patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity. o Records patient intake and output (I & O).
    • Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
    • Changes and transports soiled and contaminated linens according to procedure. o Maintains clean and tidy patient room/environment.
    • Assists patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
  • Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient's nurse. * Sets priorities for the care of multiple patients.

Requirements:

  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required OR successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education OR
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire
