What You Will Do:

The Inventory Storeroom Clerk is responsible for a wide range of duties related to the general operation and organization of the School of Culinary Arts Storeroom. The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for all requisitions for the Skylight Cafe, Dining Room, Events Department and all classrooms of Kendall College. In addition, the Storeroom Clerk is responsible for maintaining organization and sanitation of the storeroom, including coolers, freezers, and dry stock.



Essential Responsibilities

    Assist Storeroom Manager and Storeroom Coordinator with receiving and stocking product deliveries.
  • Maintain FIFO procedures when stocking and pulling products for Requisitions.
  • Clean food preparation equipment, work areas and counters or tables; remove garbage, compost and recyclables from the Storeroom at the end of shift.
  • Assist instructors with additional product needs and record on "running REQ" log.
  • Building all Requisitions as well as assisting student workers and interns with building requisitions.
  • Reporting incomplete items to Storeroom Manager and Coordinator.
  • Perform final check of all requisitions to verify accuracy before they are released to instructors.
  • Assist Storeroom Manager and Coordinator with weekly and monthly inventory.
  • Maintain Returns shelves including: all product labeled and dated, remove unusable products and record as waste.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director, Manager, and/or Coordinator.


Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse experience, receiving deliveries or supporting basic inventory control.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to follow schedules and complete repetitive tasks efficiently.
  • Accountability: Takes responsibility for own actions, including the impact of own decisions on students, colleagues and others. Also takes responsibility for actions of any direct reports, avoiding blame or excuses. Takes appropriate action when anyone in the organization violates policies, rules or standards, viewing it as unacceptable to "look the other way".
  • Safety: Makes sure to understand every safety practice expected by the organization. Takes no shortcuts that increase the risks of accidents, personal injuries or equipment failures. Looks for unsafe practices in the workplace and takes responsibility to ensure that others are aware of the potential impact.
  • Equipment/Mechanical Skills: Demonstrates the essential skills related to the use of all equipment connected to job responsibilities. Displays an appropriate level of concern for various safety factors when using equipment.
  • Dependability: Makes and fulfills commitments. Has established a pattern of working independently, meeting reasonable deadlines, and accepting responsibility for his or her actions. Willingly makes promises and fully intends to keep them. Arrives at work on time and ready to contribute. Shows up for meetings well-prepared.

Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel Requirements:

Work is performed primarily in a fast-paced warehouse work environment and may involve exposure to moderate to loud noise levels. Work involves operation of equipment, supplies and machinery for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with traditional kitchen operations, conference and banquet logistics, e.g., walking, standing, lifting, communicating.

The salary range of the grade for this position is $17.00 to $21.75 per hour (typical workweek is 40 hours). Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
