DESCRIPTION

Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. The internationally renowned faculty play a major role in medical and graduate student training, providing educational and programmatic offerings that span several disciplines and provide diversity to meet the interests of a broad spectrum of students and scholars. More than one hundred trainees at the graduate student and postdoctoral level, as well as more than 300 professional, research and administrative staff who along with the department administrators interact closely with the faculty. Under supervision, the incumbent uses professional engineering concepts to perform moderately complex engineering assignments. Works in a specialized engineering field on a major training and/or research effort. Works on assignments of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related experience, education/training or Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or related field, plus two (2) or more years of relevant experience

  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and methods in order to independently perform professional engineering design work of limited scope and complexity.

  • Working knowledge necessary to begin independent application of principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner, to assist in identifying any challenges or barriers.

  • Organizational abilities and decision-making to prioritize work assignments.

  • Experience with high throughput Next Generation Sequencing multi-omics.
