This position exists to support will support the research studies of the Principal Investigator (PI), Tippi MacKenzie, M.D., in understanding the genetics of congenital disorders and developing new therapies to treat them using genome editing, gene therapy, and related approaches. Our work involves both research in animal models and as well as patient samples, in the broad area of maternal-fetal precision medicine.

We have created a vibrant team of scientists, doctors, and students who share this mission and are looking for motivated, bright, talented individuals to join us. We are part of the UCSF Broad Stem Cell Center and benefit from the collaborative research environment in our neighboring labs. Our close-knit, multidisciplinary team provides an excellent training opportunity: past research associates have secured positions in medical school, graduate school, and the biotech industry.

The UCSF Pediatric Surgery and the Bay Area Pediatric Surgeons is the premier Pediatric Surgical Practice for the Bay Area and beyond. Prepare standardized media, reagents and solutions from formulas for clinical and research use. Prepare bacterial and viral filters; wash glassware in the appropriate manner. Keep laboratory facilities clean and sanitary.

  • Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Precise attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize data and keep detailed records.

  • Proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience and ability to independently make solutions and prepare reagents
