Summary of Position
Responsible for performing the cleaning and grounds keeping duties for the Corps Worship & Community Center. Individual will periodically be required to do work at other Salvation Army facilities, including but not limited to The Salvation Army Family Store. This is a part time regular position with a work week expectation of 20 hours a week. Wage range: $14.42 - $15 per hour, 20 hours/week 15th S. Main St, Williston, ND 58801
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with two years custodial experience. Experience with basic cleaning products and knowledge of safely using cleaning chemicals and equipment. Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision. Understand and support The Williston Corps strategic operations plan to support those in need. Must be able to follow instructions, regularly lift and move 50 pounds and pass The Salvation Army's background check. It must be understood by the incumbent that the provisions of Safe From Harm will apply upon commencement of employment and also understood that the required Safe From Harm training be satisfactorily completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
Description of Position
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers and Corps Officers. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others' property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.
- Support the mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client and colleague with individual respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.
- Keep all maintenance and janitorial supplies in good order.
- Keep all the equipment clean and in operating condition.
- Replace/repair broken or lost material.
- Inform the office, in writing, when low on supplies so that more might be ordered.
- Be sure to replace all mops and brooms with the head upward and in their proper place.
- All equipment and supplies should be kept in designated areas.
- Make sure all mechanical equipment is in proper working order. Report problems to CO.
- Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
- Cleans and waxes floors using industrial-size mops and/or machines.
- Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
- Regularly clean restrooms, including stocking paper towels, toilet paper and filling soap dispensers.
- Maintains equipment; reports needs for painting and minor building or equipment repair to Corps Officer.
- Reports safety hazards to supervisor.
- Cuts grass, pulls weeds, trims shrubs, water plants and performs other related duties on the grounds as needed.
- Weekly walk around building to pick up trash.
- Sweep and wash entrances.
- Performs custodial related duties necessary to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
- Performs many varied custodial tasks necessary for the upkeep of buildings and grounds.
Additional
- Pick up trash and sweep outside area as needed.
- Seasonal jobs to be done as needed, i.e. clear all entrances and sidewalks of debris.
- Performs snow and ice removal as needed
- And all other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients. The duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home. Blood borne Pathogens Exposure Risk Level Risk Level 2 - The tasks or activities conducted by Risk Level 2 workers would involve expectation of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
