About This Role
Sorghum and pearl millet breeding program is one of the major research activities. The program involves continuous field every year starting April to November crop growing period and greenhouse work during the off-season months. Development of parental lines and hybrids, evaluation at multi-locations and involves the following field and laboratory operations: field preparation, fertilizer and herbicide application, planting, irrigating the breeding field nurseries, field crossing, assist selection, data collection, compilation, plot combine and single plant harvesting, drying, threshing, cleaning, seed treatment with chemicals, short-term and long-term seed storage, shipping seeds to winter nursery. This position is vital to assist the classical breeding program on sorghum and other millets. Worksite Description This position is On-site. All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law.
