As an Inpatient Mental Health Monitor Sitter, you will perform health-related video monitoring in a correctional environment. We will count on you to report findings, observations, and the patients' unusual and daily activities to the licensed nursing staff.

We Require

  • Six months of experience performing clerical or support services in a medical setting

  • High school diploma or GED

  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check and maintain MCSO jail access

  • Travel or floating to various clinical locations within a 5-mile radius is required. Must be able to respond to emergencies

  • Experience in viewing multiple computer monitors and reporting findings

  • Experience observing patients and reporting findings to nursing staff

Job Contributions

  • Perform visual or video monitoring of Inpatient Mental Health patients and report findings and observations to the licensed nurse

  • Provide and maintain patient confidentiality

  • Complete and process all required documentation legibly, timely, and with accuracy

  • Assist the patient care team as directed to ensure patient care and unit activities are complete

  • Participate in orientation and training of new staff, as well as group problem-solving and teamwork

  • Complete required classes and education credits

  • Answer phones as needed and perform other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • The position includes day or night shifts, which may include weekends and holidays

  • Must push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney. Must be able to work inside a jail and stand/walk/bend for extended periods of time throughout the shift

  • This position requires accurately handling a high volume of work, communicating with a culturally diverse patient population, and adapting to frequent changes, interruptions, and unscheduled tasks
