Job Summary

Under supervision, learns and assists with installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows-based systems, workstation images, and related software using enterprise deployment tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM). Assists with packaging, installing, and deploying applications and games for instructional and specialized environments, including Esports arenas and Digital Media Arts labs, on Windows-based and kiosk systems. Provides support for specialized hardware and software, including virtual reality devices such as Meta and HTC Vive headsets, and creative or development platforms including Unity, Steam, and Unreal Engine. Learns and assists with creating, configuring, and maintaining custom workstation and kiosk images, including non-domain systems, to meet departmental requirements. May provide support to MacOS team when necessary. Communicates technical information to non-technical users in a professional manner and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

30% - System Deployment and Software Installation
Assist with imaging, configuring, and deploying Windows-based computers using enterprise tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM); install, configure, and update operating systems, games, and specialized software for instructional labs, esports environments, and departmental workstations; assist with creating and maintaining standard and custom workstation images, including non-domain kiosk systems.

30% - Technical Support and Troubleshooting
Respond to assigned incidents and service requests; troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral issues on Windows-based systems; document resolutions and escalate issues as appropriate.

15% - Lab and Specialized Environment Support
Assist with setup, configuration, and maintenance of esports arena and Digital Media Arts lab systems, including virtual reality devices and specialized software platforms; ensure systems are operational and ready for instructional use.

15% - Asset Preparation and Hardware Configuration
Assist with hardware setup, basic repairs or component replacement, peripheral configuration, cable management, and workstation preparation prior to deployment; maintain accurate equipment inventory and deployment records.

10% - Other Duties as Assigned
Perform related tasks consistent with the classification as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
High school education or the equivalent. Other acceptable education may include some college, no degree.

WORK EXPERIENCE
No formal or paid work experience required.
Manager may prefer experience gained through some of the following examples:
* Work shadowing, which is typically 1 or 2 weeks of shadowing and experienced incumbent which allows the shadow to gain an insight into a role or into a company. Student/candidates might have more than one shadowing experience.
* Participation in mentoring programs to gain insight and knowledge in the field for an experienced coach.
* Volunteering in a related field.
* College internship.
* Experiential learning towards a college/university degree program, including vocational placement as part of a training/education program requirement.
* One (1) year of paid relevant work experience.

Desired Qualifications

  1. Experience supporting or maintaining Windows-based desktop or laptop computers in an academic, workplace, or lab environment.

  2. Familiarity with installing, configuring, and updating software applications on Windows-based systems.

  3. Basic experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues, including identifying problems and applying documented solutions or escalating as needed.

  4. Exposure to computer imaging, system deployment, or endpoint management tools through coursework, internships, student employment, or self-directed learning.

  5. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally to non-technical users

  6. Familiarity with games, game platforms, or interactive media technologies used in instructional or lab environments.

  7. One (1) year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years


Special Working Conditions

Positions in this class typically require: lifting, pushing, pulling, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment. However, there will be times when assistance will be needed out doors for inventory/receiving task. This can be time of extreme Arizona heat.
