Job Title: Team Lead Department: Assembly Reports To: Department Supervisor Shift: 2nd Shift Location: Southern Pines, NC FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Support the mission of the team and coordinate with other functional areas to ensure accomplishment of overall plant objectives. Actively drive accountability for team's safety, delivery, quality, and housekeeping. Assist supervisor with leading others by providing feedback and coaching as necessary. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Working Team Lead include the following job duties. The responsibilities are not limited to these tasks:
- Operate as a working team leader and oversee processes and personnel to make sure work being produced meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures.
- Work on the line if needed when team members call out or are on vacation.
- Assist supervisor with coaching, directions, and guidance for employees on the team regarding productivity, quality, housekeeping and safety.
- Provide daily update and reporting of department performance outcomes and improvements related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity
- Assign work to employees to accomplish daily production plan.
- Perform safety and housekeeping audits.
- Monitor the production plan throughout the day and move employees as needed to accomplish target production.
- Assist employees with any technical and quality issues with product assembly.
- Hold team meetings and effectively articulate results, scheduling, etc.
- Required to work unscheduled overtime if needed.
- Keep supervisor informed of productivity levels for department and issues that affect daily productivity outcomes.
- Provide feedback on employee and/or team performance to the supervisor and operations manager.
- Work with supervisor to ensure all employees are properly trained per ISO requirements.
- Assist the supervisor as needed in vacation scheduling, monitoring, and revisions.
- Maintain the MDI boards by gathering pertinent data and updating boards.
- Coordinate with the appropriate department on engineering / quality issues.
- Coordinate with planners on material and supply issues.
- Motivate employees through coaching and showing a "can do" attitude.
- Actively support continuous improvement projects and activities.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration within the team and with other departmental teams.
- Support management decisions and effectively communicate decisions to the team.
- Foster a positive attitude and lead by example.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- An acceptable work performance history, consisting of: (a) Annual performance rating of 3.0 or higher from the Hourly Annual Performance Review, and (b) No written warnings or suspensions within the past 12 months.
- Have basic understanding of MfgPro.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn all roles in an area of the plant.
- Accepts change and is willing to adapt and learn new tasks.
- Responds to coaching and corrective action.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Previous leadership roles within or outside Ingersoll Rand are a plus.
- Work experience required in the particular area needing the working team lead.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Secondary education is a real plus.
- Work experience required in the specific assembly area needing the working team lead.
- Previous leader experience is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, such as supervisory instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and work orders.
- Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to use a 10-key calculator to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, to machining oils/coolants from handling coated tools and containers, and to coolant/oil mists which are below OSHA's permissible levels of exposure.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places when using a ladder or operating the man-lifts.
- Since it is a manufacturing environment, the noise level is usually loud due to the different machinery being operated (i.e., forklifts, hand tools, machines in other departments) and the testing that occurs. Normal noise exposure in the area ranges from 80-90 d BA; hearing protection is required while on the plant floor.
