Since our establishment, we have demonstrated the ability to manage complex technical challenges while delivering exceptional service and mission-focused solutions to our customers.Precise Systems is seeking a motivated and mission-focused Test & Evaluation Engineer - CUAS Field Support to support Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems test and evaluation activities for Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare programs at NSWC Crane.The ideal candidate will have experience supporting field test operations, technical test events, CUAS systems, electronic warfare systems, RF systems, unmanned systems, test equipment, data collection, and field logistics. This position will support the planning, setup, execution, troubleshooting, teardown, and post-test documentation of CUAS test events conducted in field, range, laboratory, and operationally relevant environments.This role requires a hands-on engineer who can operate effectively in outdoor field conditions, coordinate with cross-functional test teams, support equipment readiness, assist with test execution, and ensure test data and observations are accurately captured for Government review.This role requires in-person support. Duties:
- Provide field support for CUAS test and evaluation activities involving EW systems, RF systems, sensors, unmanned systems, threat devices, tactical platforms, test equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
- Support planning, coordination, setup, execution, teardown, and post-test recovery for field test events.
- Assist with development and review of test objectives, test plans, test procedures, test cards, data collection plans, equipment lists, and field support requirements.
- Support developmental testing, operationally relevant assessments, demonstrations, experiments, and over-the-air field events.
- Coordinate with Government leads, Test Directors, engineers, range personnel, safety personnel, logistics teams, technicians, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to support field execution.
- Prepare, stage, transport, configure, operate, troubleshoot, and recover test equipment and test materiel used during CUAS field events.
- Support test equipment readiness, including calibration status checks, configuration verification, equipment setup, cabling, power, communications, and pre-test functional checks.
- Support operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab, range, and field test equipment, including custom-built and Government test equipment. The SOW requires support for development, maintenance, and operation of Government test equipment, including custom-built, lab, and range test equipment.
- Assist with target device support, including configuration, inspection, readiness verification, staging, inventory control, operation, recovery, and post-test accountability.
- Support field test logistics to ensure target devices, test equipment, vehicles, support equipment, and required materials are available and functional prior to test execution.
- Assist with tactical vehicle, support vehicle, or mobile platform coordination when required for CUAS test events.
- Support field data collection, including system performance data, RF data, target activity, event timelines, operator observations, equipment status, anomalies, and deviations from planned procedures.
- Document test observations, equipment issues, environmental factors, safety concerns, configuration changes, and lessons learned.
- Support post-test data organization, data review, trip reports, test reports, technical summaries, engineering recommendations, and briefing materials.
- Identify field execution risks, data gaps, test limitations, equipment problems, logistics concerns, and safety issues that may affect test success.
- Provide recommendations to improve field test setup, execution efficiency, equipment readiness, data collection quality, repeatability, and overall test rigor.
- Participate in test readiness reviews, Integrated Product Teams, planning meetings, daily field briefs, post-test debriefs, and lessons learned reviews.
- Support field testing at NSWC Crane and other remote test locations as required. The SOW includes support for developmental and final assessments in laboratories and remote locations, as well as participation, coordination, and conduct of field testing.
- Ensure field activities are performed in accordance with approved test plans, safety requirements, range procedures, security requirements, OPSEC, CUI handling, and customer direction.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Applied Science, or a related technical discipline.
Required Experience:
- Three (3) years of professional experience in RF, microwave, or electronic systems engineering.
- Relevant military, technical, field test, range operations, or test and evaluation experience may be considered in lieu of degree depending on customer requirements.
- Experience supporting test and evaluation, field test operations, technical demonstrations, system testing, or range-based test events.
- Ability to support hands-on field activities, including equipment setup, teardown, troubleshooting, data collection, and post-test accountability.
- Understanding of test planning, test execution, data collection, post-test review, and technical reporting.
- Ability to coordinate across engineering, logistics, safety, range operations, test operations, and program management teams.
- Ability to work in outdoor field environments and support variable test schedules.
- Ability to document technical findings, observations, anomalies, risks, and recommendations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance; Top Secret/SCI eligibility preferred.
- Experience supporting CUAS, electronic warfare, RF systems, unmanned systems, sensors, communications systems, or threat representative devices.
- Experience supporting NSWC Crane, NAVSEA, Marine Corps, Army, Navy, or other DoD test programs.
- Experience with RF test equipment, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, antennas, receivers, software-defined radios, data acquisition systems, GPS tracking systems, or range instrumentation.
- Experience supporting field events at test ranges, military installations, or operationally relevant locations.
- Experience with target configuration, target validation, target logistics, inventory tracking, equipment staging, and test asset accountability.
- Experience supporting tactical vehicles, mobile test platforms, field communications, or transportable test systems.
- Familiarity with test plans, test procedures, test cards, trip reports, test reports, technical reports, engineering judgment records, and lessons learned documentation.
- Familiarity with CUAS threats, UAS operations, RF control links, telemetry, electronic attack, electronic support, electronic protection, or RF defeat capabilities.
- Ability to support travel for field test events as required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
