Let's shape the future of General Dynamics Land Systems together.

About the Position:
The Vehicle Systems Engineer position focuses on the development and management of advanced MOSA-based vehicle system architectures on new and existing platform designs. This effort focuses on developing advanced architectures, decomposing activities/behaviors at the system and subsystem levels, identifying and maturing open system and subsystem interfaces, and modeling and documenting them following a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) process, supported by an industry-standard toolset (typically CAMEO). It requires an ability to understand and represent complex system, subsystem, and component interactions and activities to support component hardware and software designs in various ground vehicle platforms. While experience in MBSE is desired, the focus for the position is primarily on solid systems architecture engineering, not solely on SysML modeling.

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Develop high-level architecture diagrams for multiple aspects of the platform in question through the use of industry evaluation and trade studies
  • Accurately capture and review connectivity diagrams (typically SysML IBDs and BDDs at a system/subsystem level, electrical schematics at a component level) in various tools (MBSE and/or electrical design capture)
  • Track and manage component and interface lists throughout the system model
  • Decompose and describe platform (system) and subsystem behaviors using various SysML diagrams
  • Work with design engineering to advise and review lower-level designs for compliance to intended architecture and traceability to higher-level components
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field. Other technical degrees will be considered with related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, fewer years will be considered with an advanced degree.
  • Broad based knowledge of systems engineering along with other technical engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, etc.).
  • Due to the nature of the work, this role requires on-site presence up to 100% although some remote work may be available each week.
  • Specific experience with one of the following more-specialized areas of architecture is highly desired:
    • Mobility systems (engine and transmission, drive-by-wire, vehicle electronics interfacing, CAN communications, etc.)
    • Vehicle electronics systems (including schematic development, data networking, etc.)
    • Video systems (i.e., camera, processing, display, etc.)
  • Proven and demonstrated experience with MBSE and associated tools, specifically CAMEO

What We Offer:
  • We offer a Total Rewards package that is Impactful and built for you
  • Healthcare including medical, dental, vision, HSA and Flex Spending
  • Competitive base pay and incentive pay that rewards individual and team performance, and comprehensive benefits
  • 401k match up to (6%)
  • Educational assistance
  • 9-80 work schedule (This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off)
  • On-going learning opportunities rewarding work environment
  • Modern office, onsite cafeteria including Starbucks Cafe, remodeled fitness center, and outdoor fitness track

This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible)

This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired. Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space).

GDLS considers factors such as, scope/responsibilities of the position, candidate experience and education/training background, in addition to local market comparable and business considerations when extending an offer.
