The Kelada Lab in the UNC Department of Genetics is seeking a Research Technician who will lead a project focused on the identification of genes that influence response to air pollution. The technician will expose genetically diverse mice to air pollution using established protocols, then measure a suite of biological and/or physiologic responses at various time points after exposure. Downstream measurements of proteins and gene expression in the lung will be carried out using ELISAs and qRT- PCR, respectively. Subsequently, the technician will perform quantitative genetic analysis ( QTL mapping) of the acquired data using established analytical pipelines.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Prior experience in a laboratory setting

Ability to work with mice

Ability to perform quantitative genetic analysis
Strong attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate with the research team
