Job Summary: Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, Benefits; the People & Culture Coordinator, Benefits is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day administration of BDO's group benefit programs in conjunction with the firm's Total Reward Strategy, while providing excellent customer service. Job Duties:
- Coordinates the day-to-day administration of the Firm's benefits programs including health, dental, vision, flexible spending, STD/LTD, long term care, life insurance, group legal, transit/parking, back-up dependent care, worker's compensation, COBRA administration and other related benefit programs
- Assists in researching employee benefit plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value
- Coordinates maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee records in MyBDO and other applicable systems.
- Transfers benefit information to payroll and works with the People & Culture Systems team and IT on vendor file set-up and troubleshooting
- Assists in gathering employee data for processing of monthly billings and the preparation for payment of administrative fees for all group plans
- Performs and participates in benefit plan audits
- Completes benefit surveys and reviews information obtained from the results
- Provides excellent customer service support to internal and external customers including assisting employees with benefits questions and concerns
- Assists in creating and conducting presentations, including benefits orientation using audiovisual tools such as PowerPoint and videos
- Assists with designing and maintaining benefits communication materials, forms and information for employees and partners such as SPDs, new hire and open enrollment information, portal content, general topics, newsletters, news articles, etc.
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of the annual benefits open enrollment process
- Assists in administering benefits and communications for retired employees and employees on COBRA
- Assists the National Retirement Manager with the administration of the 401(k) program, as needed
- Other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education:
- Associate degree, required
- Bachelor's degree, preferred; focus in Business Administration, Human Resources or Finance, preferred
Experience:
- Two (2) or more years of Human Resource experience, required
- Two (2) or more years of Human Resource experience in benefits, preferred
License/Certifications:
Software:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, required
- Experience working with Oracle, preferred
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, client service and organization skills
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, Social Security and DOL requirements
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills along with attention to detail
- Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
- Ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients
- Ability to maintain confidential information and matters with discretion
- Strong working knowledge of Human Resource policies and practices
- Ability to communicate with all levels of leadership while providing a high level of customer service and confidentiality
- Ability to adapt communication style to successfully convey messages and objectives to diverse audience
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. National Range: $27.41/hr - $31.25/hr Maryland Range: $27.41/hr - $31.25/hr NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $27.41/hr - $31.25/hr
