Job Description
Primary Purpose Performs diagnostics, inspections, and troubleshooting on gas transmission and distribution systems with limited supervision while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring work quality. Ideal candidate would be proficient in natural gas measurement practices. Including ultrasonic measurement, RTUs, analyzers, and other relative EFM equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs detailed corrosion surveys such as closeinterval readings and identify probable sources of issues.
- Troubleshoots and repairs rectifiers, test stations, and grounding components.
- Leads preparations for inline inspection runs and supports tool launching and receiving.
- Inspects and maintains valves, regulators, and relief devices according to procedures.
- Executes compressor station preventive maintenance and identifies equipment defects.
- Leads safe leak repair site setup, including barricading and hazard controls.
- Trains junior technicians on testing methods and documentation standards.
- Verifies completeness and accuracy of field documentation submitted by crews.
- Performs calibration, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on transmitters, flow computers (RTUs), chromatographs, and other EFM equipment.
- Assists with startup and commissioning of new meter stations, regulation skids, and automation systems.
- Responds to One Calls on behalf of the company to protect company assets from third party damage.
- Analyzes measurement data, identifies discrepancies, and resolves volume, pressure, temperature, and gas quality issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Required: Minimum High School diploma
- Required: Trade School
- Required: Typically requires 3 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Required: Natural Gas Measurement - Proficient in all aspects of natural gas measurement according to industry standards.
- Required: Pipeline Operations - Pipeline Damage Prevention and other PHMSA regulations.
- Required: Gas Engineering - Design and advise on smooth and safe supply or utilization of gas, including the development, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and repair of gas and gas-related technology.
- Required: Project/Program Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
- Required: Energy Distribution Systems Installation - Installing systems for distributing energy, such as electrical power, from sources to end-users efficiently and safely.
- Required: Distribution Meter Installation - The process of installing energy distribution meters.
- Required: Engineering Design - A series of steps that engineers follow to find a solution to a problem.
- Required: Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
- Required: Maintenance Management - Management of activities such as repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting and testing.
- Required: Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Management - The systematic approach to maintain health and safety at occupation and protect the environment.
- Required: Standards Management - Sets standards correctly and efficiently, and adheres to them.
- Required: Corrosion Control - Implementing processes and methods of combating corrosion by protecting metals against corrosion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred: 5-10 years' experience in the natural gas industry

FIELD: Work in the field due to the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
