Clinical Director, Operating Room & Ambulatory Surgery Services (RN) Location: Washington, DC Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire Salary: $100,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus About the Opportunity NRI Healthcare is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a Clinical Director for a premier outpatient surgery center and aesthetic medical practice in the Washington, DC area. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations, including the operating room, perioperative services, recovery, infection prevention, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, staff development, emergency preparedness, and clinical workflow optimization. The Clinical Director will partner closely with physician leadership to ensure exceptional patient outcomes, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. Qualifications Required
- Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience in a surgical, perioperative, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), or procedural setting
- Progressive nursing leadership or management experience
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, infection prevention, and ambulatory surgery regulations
- Experience with accreditation surveys, quality assurance programs, and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- Leadership experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)
- Experience in plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, or office-based surgical practices
- Experience managing budgets, inventory, and vendor relationships
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership
- Direct daily clinical operations for the surgery center and physician practice
- Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Foster a culture of patient safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with physician leadership to implement strategic clinical initiatives
Operating Room & Perioperative Services
- Oversee pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care
- Ensure efficient scheduling, staffing, and utilization of operating room resources
- Maintain compliance with perioperative nursing standards and evidence-based practices
- Promote optimal patient flow and operational efficiency
Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
- Lead accreditation readiness and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Coordinate regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys
- Develop corrective action plans and maintain required documentation
Quality Assurance & Risk Management
- Direct Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
- Monitor patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical outcomes
- Conduct incident investigations and implement process improvements
- Lead quality assurance meetings and maintain regulatory records
Medication & Controlled Substance Management
- Oversee medication management and controlled substance compliance
- Monitor narcotic inventory, reconciliation, and documentation
- Ensure medication storage and emergency medication readiness
- Maintain staff competency related to medication administration
Infection Prevention & Safety
- Oversee infection prevention programs and regulatory compliance
- Monitor sterilization processes, environmental cleaning, and safety protocols
- Coordinate ongoing infection surveillance and staff education
Emergency Preparedness
- Maintain emergency preparedness plans and response protocols
- Coordinate emergency drills and staff training
- Ensure emergency equipment, crash carts, and supplies remain compliant and operational
Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff
- Conduct competency assessments and annual performance reviews
- Develop continuing education and professional development programs
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and scheduling coverage
Clinical Operations
- Oversee nursing workflows across the practice
- Ensure continuity of care from consultation through recovery
- Collaborate with administrative leadership to improve patient satisfaction and operational performance
- Support implementation of new technologies and clinical services
Supply Chain & Equipment Management
- Manage procurement and inventory of clinical and surgical supplies
- Oversee preventative maintenance of medical equipment
- Build and maintain vendor relationships
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost management
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the clinical environment for extended periods
- Ability to assist with patient positioning and transfers
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
