Essential Job Duties
NC State University Libraries is seeking a graduate student from any discipline to support the work in the Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery at the D. H. Hill Jr. Library. This position provides hands-on experience with teaching and learning using immersive and emerging technologies. Additionally, the student assistant will be integrated into a team of library professionals to provide direct support to users across disciplines.

Under the supervision of the Research Librarian for Business, Education, and Immersive Pedagogy, the student will:

  • Provide hands-on support in the Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery, including:
  • Orientations for new students and faculty interested in using the Gallery
  • Consultations with users to help refine their content in the Gallery
  • Hosting events in the Gallery, acting as a welcoming presence available for questions from patrons
  • Collaborate with librarians to plan, schedule and staff events in the Gallery
  • Create new content to explore other capabilities of the Gallery


This position is up to 10 hours per week. The student assistant is expected to maintain a regular weekly schedule, but there is some flexibility. Some possible evening and weekend hours may be required, with advance planning and discussion with the supervisor.
