Description and Requirements

The position is for a Senior Hardware Development Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Morrisville, North Carolina. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. The Senior engineer will be looked upon to lead a set of highly motivated engineers to develop innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Next-Generation Server Innovation
    Own the architecture and development of Lenovo's next generation ThinkSystem server platforms, helping shape the future of AI, cloud, and data center infrastructure.
  2. Drive End-to-End Product Development
    Lead hardware development from concept through production, including design, validation, issue resolution, and product launch.
  3. Build and Inspire High-Performing Teams
    Mentor and lead a talented team of engineers, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration across global development organizations.
  4. Influence Strategic Technology Decisions
    Partner with architects, senior engineering leaders, and executives to define product direction and deliver breakthrough infrastructure solutions.
  5. Solve Complex Customer Challenges
    Work directly with customers to understand their technical needs and develop customized solutions that drive business success.
  6. Champion Technical Excellence
    Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex hardware issues while setting engineering standards and best practices across the organization.

Basic Requirements:

  • Proven experience leading the design and development of enterprise server, compute, or data center hardware platforms.
  • Deep expertise in x86 and/or AMD-based system architecture, hardware design, and low-level platform validation.
  • Strong background in PCB schematic design, EDA tools, hardware bring-up, and debug.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success leading engineering teams and delivering complex products from concept through production.
  • Experience with server technologies, FPGA development, PCIe design, DC power design, or related platform technologies is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Linux, Windows, and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, or PowerShell.
  • Proven ability to lead global cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with a passion for mentoring engineers and developing innovative technologies.
