(Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 12:00am-4:59am)

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic Level A position performs highly skilled maintenance and repair work to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of company facilities, equipment, and systems. The role requires the ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and contribute to overall operational effectiveness.

In addition to primary maintenance responsibilities, this position serves as a backup Class A Driver and may be called upon to transport parts, supplies, and equipment as needed to support business operations. These driving duties are ancillary to the position's primary maintenance function and are performed on an as-needed basis.

Essential Functions



  • Work from blueprints/schematics to perform maintenance/repair or install equipment.
  • Report (in writing) materials and replacement parts needed for jobs; prepare and maintain maintenance invoices as required.
  • Direct/instruct subordinate employees still in training (i.e., Brood Maintenance Mechanics, Classes B and C).
  • Wire and install motors, switches, fuses, lighting, relays and control device.
  • Determine proper size and specifications of plumbing pipe, fittings, valves, etc., for both water and gas.
  • Inspect and perform preventative maintenance repairs/corrections on pumps, motors, foggers, heaters, feed systems, vaporizers, injectors, etc.
  • Install, connect, adjust, and calibrate (i.e., temperature, flow. pressure, etc.) pneumatic gauges, meters, etc.
  • General cleaning and/or assisting other crews if required; and Maintaining safety, housekeeping, and sanitation and disease control requirements while performing job duties.


Class A Driver Functions (As Needed)



  • Pick up and deliver parts, supplies and equipment to Crews.
  • Move equipment for cleanup and set up crews as required
  • Maintain Truck in a clean and safe condition.
  • Complete daily pre- and post-trip inspections and reports. Adhere to all safety and disease prevention regulations.



Qualifications



  • Must have a minimum of four years of training, one-the-job and/or formal schooling.
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work from a ladder.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have and maintain a California Driver's License and an acceptable DMV record.
  • Must be able to take after hour calls, and job assignments as necessary.
  • Must be able to give direction, lead and train other lower-level mechanics.
  • Must be able to maintain a pleasant and harassment free work environment at the job sites.
  • Must have 1 year of experience driving Class A Trucks.
  • Pass a DOT medical exam (get a Medical Examiner's Certificate)
  • Pass a DOT Pre-employment D&A test and background check)
  • Pass Clearinghouse background (FMCSA Requirement)
  • Must be able to climb a 14-foot ladder to roll a tarp from the top of the truck.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays if necessary; further, must be able to adjust starting/stopping times when schedules change.
  • Must be capable of performing physical labor (bending, stooping, shoveling, and lifting 60 lbs.)
  • Must have good English communication skills both verbal and writing.
  • Must have good time management skills, and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to always abide by all biosecurity and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Ability to be a certified forklift and tractor driver
