What you can expect

Location: 2301 Erwin Rd, Durham, NC 27705

Levels 2/3 of the Children's Health Center at Duke University Hospital is comprised of pediatric outpatient clinics. The Duke Children's Health Center specialty clinics serve outpatient ambulatory pediatric patients and families with a variety of healthcare needs. This nurse may also work at the Lenox Baker Children's Hospital. Flexibility and the capacity to adapt to varying patient scenarios and high visit volumes are crucial to this role.

Schedule:



  • Full Time: Hours may vary, but will typically fall within a standard Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. schedule.

How you will make an impact

  • Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.
  • Provide nursing services and education to pediatric patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Delegate and supervise the activities of licensed and unlicensed care providers and serve as team leader or charge nurse as assigned.
  • Monitor and maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources, and initiate corrective action when needed.
  • Participate in professional development, preceptorship, and performance improvement activities.


What you will need

  • Must have 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Preferred: 1 year of pediatric experience.
  • IV and/or procedural experience preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of start date and complete it within five years of start date.
  • Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or current compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina.
  • BLS Certification required.
