What to Expect As an HVAC Technician, Construction on Tesla's self-perform mechanical construction team at Gigafactory Nevada, you will install, modify, troubleshoot, and support HVAC and mechanical systems on high-velocity construction and upgrade projects. This is not a facilities maintenance role. You will execute self-perform construction scopes, support turnovers, and deliver quality work on aggressive schedules while maintaining high standards of safety and craftsmanship. Work may include heights, scaffolds, confined spaces, and elevated temperatures. Flexibility for overnight, weekend, or extended shifts is sometimes required for critical scopes and production windows. What You'll Do Install, modify, and commission HVAC systems, ductwork, equipment, and associated mechanical components on active construction and upgrade projects Perform hands-on field work using drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals to layout, hang, connect, and start up industrial HVAC equipment Support job walks, LOTO, scope reviews, and coordination with other self-perform trades and contractors while following Tesla standards and protocols Diagnose and resolve issues during install and start-up, driving practical solutions and communicating clearly with leads and supervision Identify parts and materials needed for scopes and coordinate requests to keep crews productive Operate as a core member of the self-perform construction team and support teammates across shifts, trades, and scopes as needed Take ownership of work quality, safety, and outcomes while helping the team deliver on aggressive project timelines What You'll Bring Minimum 5+ years of hands-on HVAC experience in construction, industrial install, or heavy commercial environments Current Universal EPA Section 608 license Proficiency with vacuum pumps, manifold gauges, refrigerant recovery and charging, and common hand and power tools used in industrial HVAC installation Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, equipment manuals, mechanical layouts, and parts lists Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed and work safely in active construction environments, including heights, scaffolds, and confined spaces Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with other trades, contractors, leads, and supervision Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional overnight shifts, weekends, or extended days to support critical construction scopes Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
