A leading specialty home retailer is hiring an Assistant Store Design Manager to join its Store Development team. This team designs, builds, and delivers retail experiences across new construction, remodels, special projects, and repairs and maintenance, on both domestic and global projects.

About the Role

You will support the Design Managers and VP of Store Design from initial site identification through design development, construction, and store opening. You will work closely with Real Estate, Construction, Store Operations, Visual Merchandising, and outside partners including architects, fixture manufacturers, and general contractors.

What You'll Do

  • Support Design Managers and the VP of Store Design on a single brand
  • Serve as liaison between Store Development and internal business partners; attend meetings to review plans, schedules, and operational requirements
  • Review Real Estate transmittals for accuracy and clear communication
  • Assist with preliminary layouts and coordinate with architects and the Store Design/Construction team for REC approval
  • Compile final Design Development packages for REC approval with the Real Estate planner, architects, and Design Manager
  • Maintain the design hot list and issue weekly project reports
  • Build presentation packages for Brand President meetings
  • Track submittals including samples, drawing sets, and shop drawings
  • Act as system administrator for online document storage (construction docs, shop drawings, renderings, photos)
  • Monitor weekly site construction photos and keep business partners updated on progress
  • Handle general project administration: notes, distribution, and fielding questions
  • Partner with Repairs and Maintenance on established brands
  • Some travel required

What You Bring

  • Experience coordinating retail, commercial interiors, hospitality, or multi-site construction projects
  • Ability to juggle a high volume of concurrent projects and shifting priorities
  • Comfort reviewing drawings, layouts, and design packages (you are not producing them)
  • Track record partnering across Real Estate, Construction, Operations, architects, GCs, and vendors
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and follow-through
  • Proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Degree in architecture, interior design, construction management, or a related field preferred
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with project and document management platforms (Procore, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, SharePoint, or similar) a plus
