DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil/Structural Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting civil engineering design and construction activities for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers and project teams to support site development, permitting, and construction efforts. This role can be located in Houston, TX.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in supporting civil/structural engineering design efforts for utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Support development of civil design deliverables such as grading plans, erosion control plans, and site layouts
  • Support development of structural design deliverables such as posts, racking and piles
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project teams to gather and share project data
  • Assist in reviewing engineering drawings, reports, and project documentation
  • Support coordination with external consultants such as survey, geotechnical, and civil engineering partners
  • Help track project deliverables, RFIs, and engineering comments across teams
  • Participate in project meetings and document key action items and updates
  • Gain exposure to site development, permitting processes, and construction practices
  • Spend extended time onsite during the internship shadowing field teams to better understand project execution and cost drivers

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Eligible for full-time employment on or before Summer 2028
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Exposure to civil engineering concepts such as grading, drainage, or site development through coursework, projects or internships
  • Exposure to hydrology and stormwater design concepts including familiarity with industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, Hydraflow, or similar) through coursework, projects or internships
  • Familiarity or interest in tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software
  • Exposure to reading engineering drawings or site plans through coursework, projects or internships
