Job Summary Manages the comprehensive medical nutrition care of patients, including nutrition assessment, development and implementation of nutrition care plans, diet modification, nutrition education, and other activities related to meeting the nutritional needs of the patient population.Effective January 1, 2024, the minimum degree requirement for eligibility to take the registration examination for dietitians changed from a bachelor's degree to a graduate degree. All other didactic and supervised practice eligibility requirements remain the same. This change does not apply to RDNs credentialed prior to January 1, 2024. Essential Functions -Assesses patients' nutritional needs using clinical data, physician orders, interdisciplinary health care plans, and standards of quality nutritional care, while considering the age, psychosocial, and physical needs of each patient. -Develops and implements individualized nutrition plans of care based on comprehensive nutritional assessments and clinical needs. -Documents all nutrition-related information, including nutrition assessments, nutrition therapy recommendations, care plans, follow-up data, changes in nutritional status, diet consultation results, discharge planning, daily clinical activities, orders, and other pertinent information. -Counsels and educates patients and families regarding prescribed therapeutic diets and develops educational resources and materials as needed. -Collaborates with food service staff to ensure appropriate meals, supplements, and nutrition support are provided. -Reviews patient menu selections to monitor compliance with prescribed modified diets and nutritional needs. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Complies with all organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
