Fidelity Technology Services LLC seeks Software Engineers to assist with its Department of Defense programs for the design and development of rotary and fixed wing aircraft simulators and Call-For-Fire trainers. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of software solutions, software integration of COTS software packages and support of the organization's software maintenance activities. The Software Engineer will work closely with other members of the software development team, project management, and product management to ensure that projects are executed with a high level of technical excellence; with demonstrable functional and technical quality; and within allotted timeframes. The Software Engineer will work with a diverse group of software engineers, spanning multiple technologies and solution domains. The Software Engineer will also be responsible for reviewing product requirements and providing estimates of effort and ensuring that leadership is kept informed about all project activities. Engineers are expected to actively participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and contribute to the team's software delivery cadence under the Army Software Acquisition Pathway (SAP/ASAP) where applicable.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for planning, prioritizing, organizing and performing technical work and ensuring the integrity of significant and diverse projects; provides input to the analysis and conceptual design of proposed projects.
- Coordinates design activity with other engineers on technical aspects relating to the project; proactively spreads knowledge within the team and demonstrates software development best practices within projects.
- Actively supports the company's software engineering processes and standards, including Agile Scrum practices - sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Participates in Agile backlog refinement by reviewing product requirements and providing reliable effort estimates; maintains work items and defect records in team tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira) with sufficient detail for traceability.
- Establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all work; writes and demonstrates for others proper technical specification documentation.
- Implements, unit tests, debugs and integrates code of high complexity; tests to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of developed or enhanced software; analyzes results for conformance to plans and specifications making recommendations based on the results; develops and initiates design changes or enhancements as necessary.
- Supports CI/CD pipeline discipline by writing testable code, resolving build failures promptly, and adhering to the team's branching and version control standards.
- Supports Government Acceptance Test (GAT) events and design reviews (PDR, CDR, TIM) as required by program schedule.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (4-year college or university) in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent STEM Degree
- Experience developing gaming or simulation software, using C++, preferably with MS Visual Studio
- Familiar with object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts and principles
- Proficient in C/C++
- Experience with source control/defect tracking systems (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps, TFS)
- Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Python, JavaScript, PERL)
- Knowledgeable of the .Net Framework
- Experience developing GUI apps (Windows Forms, Qt, WPF)
- Experience integrating third-party libraries/APIs
- Familiar with multi-threaded programming
- Understanding of SQL database concepts
- Ability to effectively debug complex code
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology and CI/CD principles; experience on a program operating under the Army Software Acquisition Pathway (SAP/ASAP) or a SAFe Agile Release Train is a plus
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with peers, clients, and management
- The ability to prepare and present, in an organized and coherent manner, design disclosures and status review data to peers and to management
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- U.S. citizenship required; active Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Simulation interoperability protocols: CIGI, DIS, or HLA; real-time graphics or image generator (IG) system integration experience
- Experience on a DoD SAP/ASAP program, MTA/OTA contract, or familiarity with DoD software CDRLs (SDP, SVD, STP, ICD)
- SAFe for Teams or SAFe Agilist (SA) certification
- Domain background in Joint Fires, Call-For-Fire, aviation simulation, or military training - through service or prior defense contractor work
Cloud platform exposure (Azure/AWS GovCloud) or containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) experience
