Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Radiology/Imaging (Full Time)

The Director of Radiology/Imaging is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, clinical operations, and administrative management of the hospital's Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging Services. This position provides oversight of imaging modalities and ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality, and patient-centered diagnostic services.


The Director works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, nursing leadership, hospital administration, and departmental staff to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, appropriate staffing, financial performance, and continued growth of imaging services.

Job Responsibiliities:

  • Provides leadership and operational oversight for all Radiology/Imaging services, including Diagnostic Radiology/X-Ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Mammography, and other applicable imaging modalities.
  • Develops and implements departmental goals, policies, procedures, workflows, and performance standards consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Directs daily operations to ensure timely, safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging services for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency populations.
  • Recruits, develops, evaluates, and retains qualified imaging professionals, supervisors, technologists, and support staff.
  • Establishes appropriate staffing plans and monitors productivity, scheduling, workload, and departmental coverage.
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, patient safety, employee engagement, and service excellence.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation requirements, radiation safety standards, and organizational policies.
  • Maintains departmental readiness for regulatory surveys and accreditation reviews, including requirements established by The Joint Commission, ACR, CMS, and other applicable agencies.
  • Collaborates with Radiation Safety, Medical Physics, radiologists, and hospital leadership to maintain appropriate quality and safety programs.
  • Oversees departmental quality assurance, performance improvement, patient safety, and imaging quality initiatives.
  • Monitors key performance indicators, including turnaround times, patient volumes, productivity, patient experience, equipment utilization, and quality outcomes.
  • Develops and manages the department's operating and capital budgets while monitoring expenses and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies.
  • Evaluates equipment needs and participates in the planning, acquisition, implementation, replacement, and maintenance of imaging technology.
  • Partners with Information Technology and clinical teams regarding PACS, RIS, imaging interfaces, workflow optimization, and other imaging-related technology.
  • Collaborates with physicians and organizational leadership to identify opportunities for program development, service-line expansion, and increased access to imaging services.
  • Ensures appropriate orientation, competency assessment, continuing education, and professional development for departmental staff.
  • Investigates operational, clinical, patient, and employee concerns and implements appropriate corrective actions.
  • Represents Radiology/Imaging Services on hospital committees, leadership meetings, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the organization's mission and strategic objectives.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience within Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Previous director-level or multi-modality imaging leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing departmental operations, staffing, budgets, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance within an acute care hospital environment preferred.
  • Current ARRT certification in an applicable imaging modality required.
  • Additional modality-specific or imaging leadership certifications are a plus.
