Application Window Open date: August 12, 2026 Next review date: Thursday, Aug 27, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Sunday, Sep 13, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks an Assistant/Associate Project Scientist to work with Professor Kenichi Soga on performance-based monitoring and risk assessment tool of lifeline infrastructure systems as part of research projects funded by the California Energy Commission, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and East Bay Municipal Utility District in Professor Kenichi Soga's lab entitled "Center for Smart Infrastructure". In particular, the project scientist will work on a ground hazard risk assessment framework using embedded sensor systems for energy and water infrastructure systems as well as its implementation under the guidance of Professor Soga. The outcome of the research will serve the infrastructure engineering community, leveraging real-time monitoring technologies to reduce construction and operational costs. The position will involve
