The R. Ken Coit, College of Pharmacy is dedicated to shaping the future of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences by educating the next generation of leaders, professionals, and innovators. A postdoctoral researcher position is immediately open in the lab of Dr. Haining Zhu in the College of Pharmacy. The candidate is expected to carry out research projects studying RNA binding proteins and RNA metabolism in neurodegenerative diseases ALS/FTD. The research involves iPSC models, biochemical and cellular approaches, and NextGen sequencing techniques. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Carry out experiments independently to determine dysregulation in RNA binding protein network and RNA metabolism in iPSC models of ALS/FTD.
- Carry out NextGen sequencing experiments and data analysis to determine epigenetic and transcriptomics changes in iPSC models of ALS/FTD.
- Carry out experiments independently to test the effect of pharmacological and genetic manipulations on correcting dysfunction of iPSC neurons.
- Organize lab notebook, analyze data, prepare group meeting presentations, and write manuscripts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform biochemistry and cell biology biology experiments independently.
- Ability to perform NextGen sequencing experiments and data analysis.
- Ability to organize research lab notes and analyze research results.
- Ability to present data in group meetings and conferences.
- Ability to write manuscripts and potentially fellowship applications.
- Knowledge of pharmacology, toxicology, biochemistry and neurobiology.
