Position Summary The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing facility systems, utilities, and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on building infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, material handling equipment, and other facility-related assets. The Facilities Technician works closely with production and safety teams to support manufacturing operations. Role Responsibilities
- Safety, Quality & Compliance:
- Perform all work in accordance with RK safety policies, OSHA requirements, the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable local codes, customer specifications, and company quality standards.
- Complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and with a high level of craftsmanship while meeting production schedules, delivery commitments, and operational goals.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly care for tools, equipment, and materials in support of 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Identify and promptly communicate safety, quality, labor, schedule, or material concerns to supervision.
- Demonstrate personal accountability for maintaining a safe work environment and stop work when unsafe conditions exist.
Facility Maintenance:
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems and infrastructure. List of build equipment includes but not limited to HVAC, air handlers, exhaust systems, and plumbing.
- Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems, including water lines, fixtures, drains, pumps, and related equipment.
Monitor facility conditions and identify opportunities for improvements, repairs, and cost savings. Manufacturing Support:
- Respond promptly to facility-related issues that impact production operations.
- Assist with prepping modules and skids to be ready to be shipped out with work like paint touch up and cleaning. This work also includes full paint work for larger skids with walls and doors.
- Assist with equipment moves, machine installations, utility connections, and facility modifications.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability.
Vendor and Contractor Coordination:
- Assist in scheduling and overseeing contractors performing facility maintenance or construction work.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and facility reliability.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures, equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and facility operations.
- Participate in developing and improving preventive maintenance programs, standard work instructions (SWIs), and best practices.
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems, and general building maintenance.
- Experience maintaining forklifts or other industrial material handling equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and maintenance documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- HVAC certification or equivalent technical training.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Forklift maintenance certification or related experience.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Minimum Physical Requirements and Accountability
- Work may be performed indoors, or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Work may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around energized equipment, and noisy or dusty environments. high places, tight places, confined spaces, and/or other adverse locations.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
- Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50 lbs.
