Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position and is looking for qualified candidates for an Ordnance Technician III. The job location is at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head MD.

Scope of Performance: An Ordnance Technician III performs highly skilled technical work and serves as an experienced member of the ordnance team. This position requires a strong understanding of ordnance safety procedures, inventory control, technical documentation, and applicable Department of Defense and customer requirements. The successful candidate will be capable of working independently while also supporting team members and coordinating with government personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders. This position requires shift work and overtime support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection, handling, movement, storage, maintenance, and accountability of ordnance and related materials.
  • Safely receive, identify, inspect, stage, store, issue, and transport ordnance-related items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate accountability and inventory records for assigned equipment, material, and ordnance.
  • Conduct inventories and reconcile physical quantities against documentation and inventory systems.
  • Identify discrepancies, damaged items, expired material, or other conditions requiring corrective action and report them appropriately.
  • Perform or assist with maintenance, inspection, testing, preparation, and disposition of ordnance-related equipment and materials.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, work instructions, safety procedures, and other applicable documentation.
  • Complete required forms, logs, reports, inspection records, and other technical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Operate material-handling equipment and other authorized equipment as required.
  • Support loading, unloading, staging, movement, and transportation of ordnance and related materials.
  • Follow all applicable explosive safety, hazardous material, environmental, occupational safety, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Assist with training and mentoring less experienced technicians.
  • Support audits, inspections, inventories, and customer/government reviews.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, government personnel, logistics personnel, and other contractor personnel to accomplish mission requirements.
  • Identify potential safety, operational, or inventory issues and elevate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience - Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of experience in ordnance, ammunition, explosives, weapons systems, logistics, maintenance, or a related military/government environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ordnance handling, storage, safety, accountability, and inventory procedures.
  • Experience working with technical manuals, procedures, and government documentation.
  • Ability to accurately maintain records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, standing, walking, climbing, and working outdoors as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications, licenses, and customer qualifications.
  • Must be able to successfully complete required background checks and drug screening.
  • Ability to received and maintain a secret security clearance.
