Job Title: Service Engineer Location(s): Brownsville, TX Position Overview A leading technology organization is seeking an experienced On-Site Service Engineer (OSE) to provide hands-on technical support for enterprise data center servers and hardware environments, including next-generation AI infrastructure. This is a hands-on server hardware break/fix position. Candidates must have direct experience diagnosing, repairing, replacing, installing, and maintaining enterprise server hardware in a data center, field service, or customer-facing environment. Prior AI infrastructure experience is not required. Strong enterprise server and data center hardware experience is the primary requirement. Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical support for Dell PowerEdge and other enterprise server hardware.
- Diagnose and resolve server hardware failures and system issues to minimize customer downtime.
- Perform hands-on installation, removal, replacement, and repair of:
- Memory/DIMMs
- CPUs/processors
- Power supplies
- Fans and cooling components
- Hard drives/SSDs
- RAID/HBA components
- NICs and PCIe components
- GPUs and accelerator hardware
- Motherboards/system boards
- Other server components
- Perform rack-and-stack activities, server installation, cabling, component swaps, and hardware configuration.
- Troubleshoot server hardware, BIOS/firmware, operating systems, and hardware diagnostics.
- Perform firmware and BIOS updates.
- Utilize server management platforms such as Dell iDRAC or comparable tools.
- Execute reactive break/fix and preventive maintenance according to established procedures.
- Troubleshoot and isolate hardware failures using documented diagnostic procedures and technical resources.
- Work directly with customers and internal technical teams during service events.
- Communicate service status, troubleshooting progress, and resolution details.
- Accurately document service activities, hardware replacements, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
- Escalate complex technical issues when necessary.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide extended coverage as required.
- Attend a weekly touch-point call with the client team after engagement begins.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise servers, data center hardware, or similar infrastructure.
- Direct experience physically working on server hardware, including installation, removal, diagnosis, repair, and component replacement.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and replacing:
- Memory
- CPUs
- Power supplies
- Storage
- RAID/HBA
- NICs
- Fans/cooling systems
- PCIe components
- GPUs
- Experience working with rack-mounted enterprise servers in a data center, field service, or customer environment.
- Strong understanding of server hardware architecture and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with hardware diagnostics, BIOS/firmware, and server management tools.
- Familiarity with Linux or similar operating systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to independently diagnose hardware issues.
- Comfortable working independently in a customer-facing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to support flexible schedules and on-call requirements.
- US citizenship is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Dell PowerEdge servers.
- Dell or other enterprise hardware certifications.
- Experience with Dell iDRAC, HP iLO, or comparable server management platforms.
- Experience supporting GPU/AI server infrastructure.
- Data center operations experience.
- Rack/stack experience.
- Structured cabling experience.
- Server deployment experience.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
AI Infrastructure AI infrastructure experience is not required. Candidates with strong enterprise server and data center hardware experience who are willing to learn emerging AI platforms are encouraged to apply. Additional Information
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
- On-Call: Yes; occasional different shift hours and extended coverage required.
- US Citizenship: Required.
- Commute Requirement: Candidates must be within a 45-minute commute unless relocation is pre-approved.
