Job Title: Datacenter Engineer

Location(s): Coral Gables, FL

Position Overview
Seeking a Datacenter Engineer responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting data center hardware, physical infrastructure, structured cabling, and related low-voltage systems. The engineer will support day-to-day operations as well as data center projects, hardware deployments, infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and expansions.

The role requires hands-on experience with data center infrastructure, structured copper and fiber cabling, rack and cable management, hardware lifecycle activities, and physical infrastructure documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, label, and document data center hardware and infrastructure.
  • Install and maintain structured cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Perform network cabling, patching, cross-connects, cable routing, rack elevations, cable management, and connectivity validation.
  • Support network, compute, and storage connectivity within data center environments.
  • Coordinate fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and termination activities with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Understand fiber optic standards, installation practices, testing methodologies, documentation, and deployment processes. Hands-on fiber termination is not required.
  • Support low-voltage infrastructure, including:
    • Network connectivity
    • Environmental monitoring
    • Access control
    • Surveillance systems
    • Other supporting physical data center technologies
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, power utilization, and cooling performance.
  • Support compliance with operational standards and service-level objectives.
  • Assist with data center projects involving:
    • Equipment deployments
    • Hardware refreshes
    • Cabling installations
    • Migrations
    • Infrastructure upgrades
    • Facility expansions
  • Perform hardware installation, decommissioning, moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for servers, storage, network equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate rack layouts, cable maps, fiber pathways, patch panel records, network connectivity documentation, asset inventories, and infrastructure change records.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, physical connectivity, structured cabling, and basic operating system/software issues.
  • Apply industry best practices for rack organization, cable management, airflow optimization, and physical infrastructure reliability.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Security, Facilities, vendors, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Perform physical work in data center environments, including lifting equipment, installing overhead or underfloor cabling, and working in hot- and cold-aisle environments.
  • Travel to domestic and international locations, including shipyards, offices, ports, and ships, for maintenance and project activities as required.
Travel Requirements
  • Up to 25% travel.
  • Travel may include U.S. and international locations.
  • Potential travel to shipyards in Italy and other global locations.
  • May be required to travel and sail with ships for maintenance or project-related activities.
  • Candidate must hold a valid U.S. Passport.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in one of the following or equivalent practical experience:
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in:
  • Data Center Engineering and Operations
  • IT infrastructure management
  • Structured copper and fiber optic cabling
  • Network cabling and physical connectivity
  • Fiber optic installation, testing, and vendor coordination
  • Low-voltage infrastructure and physical data center systems
  • Rack and cable management
  • Server, storage, and network hardware installation and maintenance
  • Hardware lifecycle management
  • Physical infrastructure documentation
  • Asset management
  • Basic network protocols
  • Network and cabling standards
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a hands-on data center infrastructure professional who combines strong physical infrastructure skills with an understanding of networking, structured cabling, hardware lifecycle management, and data center operations. The candidate should be comfortable working in operational data centers, coordinating with vendors and cross-functional engineering teams, and traveling domestically and internationally when required.
