About the Role

The ARES test facility is looking for an experienced Machinist to work in the Machine and Barrel shops at the facility. This position will also include supporting various operational and test activities as required.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this Role:

  • Perform Conventional and Conversational Programming and Machining Techniqueson CNC machines with a FANUC Controller
  • Operate CNC (CAD-CAM) Machining set-ups and CAD-CAM software
  • Expertise in CNC machining with the ability to set-up and operate machine shop equipment, interpret and work to engineering drawings. Able to build tooling, set up mounts and fixtures and make adjustments in speed and feed selection
  • Understand G-Code manual CNC Programming
  • Must be able to perform at a high level (+/- .001) tolerance
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift, tow motors and other equipment
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform minor repairs. Provide feedback on drawings and part design to improve manufacturability
  • Operate various hand, bench and machine tools, as well as a skilled degree of safe operation with heavy equipment
  • Other duties as assigned include range support, test set-up, maintenance of buildings, rounds, roads, and equipment.
  • Follow all safety directives and work to maintain a safe working environment

Qualifications Sought

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum Journeyman Machinist or 6 Yrs. Plus Experience
  • Must be mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn
  • Good understanding of Trigonometry
  • Overtime and off-shift work may be required
  • Prior experience with weapons and ammunition is desired.
  • Computer skills, email, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, CAD-CAM, 3D CAD, etc.
  • Capable of reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment specifications
  • Must be flexible and able to multi-task in a high tempo operational environment
  • Requires minimal supervision and capable of working independently with minimal errors
  • Able to work and communicate effectively in a small team
  • Able to work both indoors and outdoors during any time of year
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be US Citizen
  • No relocation compensation will be provided
