The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues. The Industry and Security Analysis Group (ISAG) within JOID provides analytical, technical, and program support to promote, grow, and protect the U.S. industrial base. ISAG's support spans the Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Commerce, and other agencies to deliver critical decision support to national security leaders. Our team informs policy decisions, enables execution of comprehensive strategies and monitors and reports on the effectiveness of implementation. This enables senior leaders to execute strategies for developing and sustaining a robust industrial base that meets our nation's strategic resource objectives. From policy to practice, we are a team of economic and national security professionals providing innovative solutions for our Nation's most pressing security challenges. This role supports the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering's (OUSW(R&E's)) Science &Technology (S&T) Exploitation and Data Analytics Team. SPA has an immediate need for an analyst to provide onsite support at the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA, but may be required to work at alternative sites across the National Capital Region based on client needs. Responsibilities The candidate will serve as the S&T Exploitation and Data Analytics Office of OUSW(R&E's) S&T Program Protection Directorate. Will provide comprehensive analytic support to identify opportunities for employing U.S. Government protection measures such as export controls, leveraging authorities that promote technology competitiveness, and utilizing commercial and U.S. Government funding mechanisms-including venture capital, Defense Production Act authorities, innovation funding, and guaranteed procurement-to advance earlystage National Security Innovation Base technologies toward mature capability. The role also includes delivering indepth scientific and technical allsource analysis of critical and emerging technologies, contributing to assessments of domestic and international development trends, and producing written analyses, presentations, and other products for technology demonstrations and transitions. Support the development of new analytic models, assessment methodologies, and tools to evaluate policy options related to science and technology promotion and protection, as well as the creation and implementation of interDoW and interagency strategies to safeguard DoW investments in critical and emerging technologies such as biotechnology. Requires ongoing engagement with academia, industry, international partners, and the broader research and development community to ensure alignment with DoW and U.S. Government science and technology priorities, maintaining an uptodate understanding of the evolving global technology landscape, and supporting efforts to strengthen domestic competitiveness in critical and emerging technologies.
