Quality Tech I

Woodward's Aerospace Product Division in Deerfield, Florida is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to support quality inspections, testing, documentation, and issue resolution in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will follow established procedures, accurately record quality data, interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements, and communicate technical findings to team members.

Estimated base hourly rate: (eligible for OT) $21.63-$29.00

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct Quality Inspections: Performs receiving, in-process, final, and first article inspections on aerospace products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and established quality standards.
• First Article Inspections: Prepares and completes First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements, including applicable forms and supporting objective evidence.
• Interpret Engineering Requirements: Reads and interprets engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements to determine product acceptance.
• Use Inspection Equipment: Performs dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gages, pin gages, height gages, dial indicators, and other standard metrology equipment.
• Follow Standard Procedures: Adheres to defined inspection procedures, work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements during all quality control activities.
• Document Quality Data: Accurately records and maintains inspection results, quality data, test results, and supporting documentation for traceability, analysis, and reporting.
• Communicate Technical Information: Shares quality-related information, inspection findings, and identified discrepancies with Quality, Engineering, and other team members to support collaborative problem solving.

Key Skills

• Engineering Drawing Interpretation: Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensional requirements, tolerances, notes, and specifications.
• GD&T Knowledge: Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and the ability to apply them during dimensional inspection.
• First Article Inspection: Experience preparing or supporting First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
• Metrology Skills: Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, thread gages, pin gages, height gages, dial indicators, and similar inspection tools.
• Analytical Skills: Proficient in applying basic analytical and inspection methods to assess product quality and determine compliance with requirements.
• Quality Assurance: Knowledgeable in adhering to quality standards, inspection requirements, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Data Recording: Accurate in documenting inspection results, test data, and maintaining complete and traceable quality records.
• Problem Identification: Capable of recognizing dimensional, visual, documentation, and other straightforward quality issues using established methods.
• Team Collaboration: Effective in communicating technical information and quality concerns with team members across Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
• Time Management: Efficient in managing inspection priorities and completing assigned tasks within required production schedules.
• Successful Candidates Will Also Have
• Previous quality inspection experience in an aerospace, defense, precision machining, or similar manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience completing First Article Inspections and AS9102 documentation.
• Experience inspecting precision machined components, assemblies, or aerospace hardware.
• Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) is a plus.
• Experience with Keyence vision measurement is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
