Your role with us
As a Speech Therapist in Salem Health's Inpatient Rehabilitation unit at our West Valley Hospital, you play a critical role in helping patients regain essential communication and swallowing abilities-skills that directly impact their independence, safety, and quality of life. Your work supports recovery from complex medical conditions through personalized, evidence-based care, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless, patient-centered treatment. This position is vital to optimizing outcomes, reducing hospital stays, and empowering patients and families during a vulnerable time in their healing journey.

• Conduct comprehensive, evidence-based evaluations tailored to patient diagnoses and needs
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable, functional goals
• Collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams (OT, PT, nursing, etc.)
• Document care accurately and timely to support skilled services and billing requirements
• Manage caseload efficiently and respond to department needs
• Coordinate care and discharge planning, addressing barriers and patient resources
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, licensure, and documentation standards
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development
• Provide exceptional patient experience through compassionate, clear communication
• Supervise and delegate tasks to clinical fellows and therapy aides as appropriate

• Master's degree in speech-language pathology/communication sciences and disorders is required.
• Clinical experience in the practice area is required. (This could be as a SLP, as a clinical fellow or as a clinical rotation student)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is required.
• License to practice Speech-Language Pathology in the state of Oregon is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire is required.
