Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking an Associate or Patent Agent to join the Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group on the Electrical Engineering & Software Team in Houston. The Firm may consider highly qualified candidates in Atlanta.


Candidates must have intellectual property experience with drafting and patent prosecution, a computer science, electrical engineering, or similar background (advanced degrees and/or work experience prior to law school/agency exam strongly preferred), and USPTO membership. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of software, controls, and controller systems. Electro-mechanical equipment experience is a plus. Associates will have 4 or more years of experience. If based in Houston, Associates must be licensed to practice law in Texas or have the ability to become licensed as soon as possible. If based in Atlanta, Associates must be licensed to practice law in Georgia. Patent Agents must have 5 or more years of experience.
Responsibilities include all aspects of global portfolio strategy and management, including obtaining intellectual property rights in the US and abroad. We seek candidates who are driven, possess a desire to develop and invest in their careers and the Firm, desire to work with a national/international client platform, and demonstrate superior client service ability. Candidates must have outstanding written and oral communication skills, excellent academic credentials, and strong organizational and analytical abilities. Knowledge and experience with other forms of intellectual property protection are a plus. This position also offers opportunities to expand into other areas of IP work for the right individuals.
