Description

Position Summary: This position is a hybrid position that is comprised of the Material Handler and Stand-Alone Packing positions. The Material Handler position is responsible for the movement of the product. The Stand-Alone Packing position will pack, and package furniture and other products produced by MacKenzie-Childs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)



  • Follow company packing procedures and standards.
  • Handle inventory with care and attention to detail.
  • Adhere to safety programs and OSHA compliance for a safe work environment.
  • Follow company safety policies and procedures and encourage other associates to do the same.
  • Work with hand tools and woodshop resources to build basic crating.
  • Ensure product orders are packed and moved carefully.
  • Move completed packages for loading.
  • Assist other departments with material handling for larger product needs.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:


This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or GED



Special Requirements:



  • Occasional weekend work as required to meet business needs.
  • Work out of Aurora or Union Springs locations to support business needs.
  • Operate Forklift or Tow lift.
  • Transport product between MacKenzie-Childs locations, if possible.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Basic shop skills, such as using hand tools.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and changing environment with a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret paperwork.
  • Maintain consistent, dependable attendance.



Equipment Used:

Safety Equipment: Safety shoes, Hand tools, pallet jacks and packing machine.

Physical and Mental Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, crouch, kneel, bend, climb, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
  • Light mental and visual attention is required for performing work where there is some variety but actions taken and decisions made are limited to few possibilities. Work requires some coordination with others.



Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to temperature changes and noise.
