Job Overview

This is an entry to mid-level position in the Neurophysiology department. The EEG Technologist will perform EEGs in the laboratory and at the patient's bedside. Communication skills are essential for this position. The EEG Technologist works under direct supervision of the Clinical Coordinator and indirect supervision of EEG technologists II and III.

Starting pay rate at $32.19/hr plus PRN differential (20%).

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - High school diploma or GED required.
  • EXPERIENCE - Six months of experience in EEG (including clinicals) required.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR required.
  • LICENSE - ABRET Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) within 1 year of start date required.


Responsibilities
POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE
a.) Neonate - <30 days
b.) Infancy - >30 days to 1yr
c.) Toddlers - >1yr to 3yrs
d.) Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs
e.) School age - >5yrs to 13yrs
f.) Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs
g.) Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
  • Assists with special procedure EEGs such as neonatal recordings, ECS recordings and PET scan recordings.
  • Assists with special projects during non-patient care down time. - Calibrates and maintains equipment and lab in good and clean condition; verbalizes malfunction to the Clinical Coordinator or Manager as needed.
  • Completes all paperwork/forms for procedure being conducted; follows up with archiving of records.
  • Follows the International 10-20 system for proper electrode application. - Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
  • Maintain current knowledge to assure a safe working environment and demonstrate practical application of all policies & procedures relative to safety, infection control, standard precautions and risk management
  • Observe, notate and analyze ongoing clinical and technical changes, adjusting the testing procedures as appropriate for individual recording session.
  • Performs ambulatory EEGs

SCOPE AND LEVEL

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $24.72 to $37.08
