Job Summary

Job Summary

Plan and teach weekly preschool art classes for children 2-5. In Story Art (parent/child class) you will read a story, then bring your story to life using a wide variety of art materials. Science Art may include the study of bugs, birds, fish and weather using a variety of materials, and art supplies. Research art projects for these classes to create an innovative, sometimes messy, theme related class format.
Instructor must create a safe environment, have a wild imagination, and enjoy working with preschoolers.

Hours of Work
School year position starting September 12, 2024
Thursdays 9:15am-11:30am
Additional hours may be offered for other daytime preschool programs as needed.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.
  • Ability to interact courteously with the public to acknowledge both compliments and complaints.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
  • Proficiency in standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel and Outlook

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. One year of experience working with preschool/youth.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
  3. Must have or be able to obtain first aid/CPR certification by start date.
  4. Must successfully complete a thorough background check as required by the Child/Adult Abuse Information Act.

Work Conditions & Physical Activities
Work is performed in an indoor setting at the North Kirkland Community Center with high levels of noise. Must be able to walk, climb, bend, and stoop to complete tasks.
