Brief Summary of Work for this Position

  • Assists and leads academic-based and recreational activities for individual and group participation during school field trips and weekend programming to the MarineQuest lab, local field sites, or at schools.


  • Supports organization and program preparations for school programs at the MarineQuest lab.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Two years completed in STEM-based undergraduate degree program or equivalent.


Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of marine sciences or engineering
  • Experience teaching PreK-12 students
  • Completion of bachelors degree or equivalent

Required Certifications or Licensure

  • Lifeguard Certification
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Ability to drive a state vehicle

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
College/School Information
Work Hours Variable between 7:00am - 5:00pm based on scheduled programs
Work Days Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday
Hours Per Week Variable under 20 hours per week, 1 positions 30-40 hours per week

Anticipated Hiring Range $13 - $18/hour - (dependent on qualifications and specific position)
Special Instructions to Applicants
Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department needs with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
