Henry Ford Health, a quaternary care academic institution affiliated with Michigan State University and Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan is seeking an Infectious Diseases physician to serve as the System Associate Medical Director of Epidemiology and Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Henry Ford Health is one of the nation's leading academic medical centers, recognized for clinical excellence in cancer care, cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, and multi-organ transplants, and is consistently ranked among the top five NIH-funded institutions in Michigan. The health system serves a growing number of customers across five acute care hospitals, two destination facilities for complex cancer and orthopedics and sports medicine care, three behavioral health facilities, primary care and urgent care centers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to improving and reducing hospital-acquired infection (HAI) rates; providing subject matter expertise in IPC, healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship; optimizing utilization of diagnostic testing and antimicrobials; and helping to develop and implement institutional policies and quality improvement initiatives.

The Associate Medical Director will be a faculty member of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Henry Ford Hospital that includes one of the oldest ID fellowship programs in the United States, with advanced fellowships in Hospital Infection Prevention and Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Stewardship, Infectious Disease Transplantation and Global Health. In addition to engaging in quality, safety, regulatory activities and performance excellence, the Associate Medical Director will be responsible for the clinical and academic responsibilities of the Department of Infectious Diseases. Opportunities exist for research within healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship and training within quality improvement. Board Certification and fellowship training in Infectious Disease is required. The qualified candidates for this position should have training and/or experience in healthcare epidemiology, infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship and quality improvement. Faculty appointments are available commensurate with experience.
