ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Structural Engineer will assist in project design from the conceptual phase to the construction phase. As a Structural engineer, you will collaborate with the various project teams to develop, refine, and update design criteria, affect design direction, and be responsible for the generation of engineering plans, specifications, and where applicable, cost estimates. It is preferred that the successful candidate have experience working with at least one of the following entities: Federal, state, and local governments.

Job Functions:

  • Assists with and/or lead the design of buildings and other structures in a variety of markets, such as commercial, federal, and infrastructure.
  • Team with engineers and other staff to complete projects on schedule, staying within the given scope and budget.
  • Coordinates with other engineering and architecture disciplines in producing construction documents.
  • Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, specifications, reports, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for a variety of projects.
  • Performs construction administration tasks as contracts require, including coordinating with construction professionals, reviewing shop drawings, visiting sites, and answering RFI's.
  • Performs work including a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Reviews the designs and calculations of other engineers.
  • Provides guidance and/or mentorship to less-experienced engineers.
  • Performs condition assessments and site visits as needed.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program; required
  • A minimum of five (5) year's experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or having passed the FE exam with the ability to become a licensed engineer within a year of hire
  • Previous Federal Government project design experience; preferred
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Understanding of design best practices
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare reports and edit proposals
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM
  • Existing local area industry and vendor relationships preferred but not desired
  • Job requires a background check and drug test
